Job Description:

Your role as Financial Reporting and Accounting Specialist ensures accurate accounting, reporting, analysis and financial controls in relation to Pharma Ophthalmics operations of the Group Belgian manufacturing unit and Swiss trading hub.

The Accounting Specialist contributes to quality services to the Group entities, securing company assets by applying tight controls in the financial transactions, while providing accurate financial information and reporting of balances. This role supports the general accounting processes within the FRA Fribourg ensuring that systems, documentation, compliance and quality reporting are in place.
In particular, the Accounting Specialist will support FRA Fribourg R2R team in the months prior to SAP system go-live by taking over some of the colleagues’ tasks.


Your Responsibilities:

  • Support in the period-end closing and reporting tasks in accordance with laws and Novartis required standards (NAM, NFCM). Tasks include
  • Preparation and execution of postings among which accruals, depreciation, payroll, reclasses, clearing of receivables and other balance sheet items
  • Performing NFCM controls
  • Lead and manage the balance sheet account reconciliations of allocated accounts to ensure all financial transactions are valid and recorded to ensure accuracy of reported data, otherwise ensure timely resolution and clean of overdue items identified
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including accounting authorities/auditors, BPAs and FRA colleagues to ensure quality service, provide data for a timely fulfillment of audit needs and to ensure appropriate accounting and financial reporting.
  • Provide services at expected levels with a clear customer focus and escalate exceptions

    Minimum requirementsWhat you'll bring to the role:
  • University level degree in Business Administration/ Economics/Finance, Chartered Accountant is a plus
  • financial experience, with in-depth functional expertise and strong accounting knowledge
  • Experience with use of J.D.Edwards accounting system, SAP is a plus
  • Analysis and synthesis capacity paired with a proactive and collaborative mindset as well as good problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and build effective relationships (also virtually) with finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken), other language skills beneficial
  • Flexibility during month-end closing
